Immerse yourself in an organic journey at the heart of ancestral Mexico.
Between sacred rituals, yoga practices, and breathtaking treks through landscapes vibrant with color and flavor, each moment awakens the senses.
A deeply sensory and transformative experience — one you won’t return from unchanged

A deeply generous guidance.
A journey of introspection, discovery, and personal wonder — but above all, one of heartfelt sharing, openness, and beauty. Kitzia was an exceptional guide. With her heart wide open, she shared unique experiences with us and accompanied us every step of the way. I recommend this experience to anyone who feels called to explore the ancestral traditions of Mexico..
Reconnecting to nature and to oneself.
A unique, deep, and gentle experience that I will always remember. Discovering Mexico and its traditions while reconnecting to nature and to myself, in an exceptional setting guided with kindness and care. So many discoveries and shared moments during this magical journey!
A journey that lingers.
A journey like a breath of the soul — between sky and earth, between self and the infinite.
We walked at the rhythm of the heart, tasted the wisdom of traditions, felt the tenderness of connection, and let the beauty of Mexico awaken our senses.
A rare and luminous experience whose resonance still lives within me, months later.
One of the most beautiful journeys of my life.
What drew me to this retreat was the blend of yoga, culture, and introspection in a dreamlike setting. It allowed me to immerse myself in the richness of ancestral Mexico — rituals, ceremonies, and traditions that deeply moved me. I was touched by Kitzia’s gentleness, the energy of the group — who have since become true friends — and the presence of the guides. Without hesitation, one of the most beautiful journeys of my life.
Between ancestral traditions and the Mexico of today.
More than a yoga retreat, this is a true immersion into the heart of Mexico: ancestral rituals — fire, cacao, temazcal — alongside the discovery of contemporary Mexico, from the neighborhoods of Mexico City to nature and gastronomy. The journey is filled with meaningful surprises, powerful encounters, and symbolic experiences. Kitzia guided us with passion and generosity. A magical stay.

Over 7 days and 6 nights, this retreat offers a progressive immersion into nature and pre-Hispanic traditions.
The treks create space for slowing down and deep presence, while Nash and Full share the pre-Hispanic coscosmovision connection with the elements and the places considered sacred.
The rituals — temazcal, fire, cacao — unfold within this continuity. The preparation of cacao was once a collective activity rooted in shared gestures and exchange, a moment of community rarely experienced in our modern urban lives. Reconnecting with this dimension allows space for dialogue, listening, and meaningful connection to emerge.
Dynamic and restorative yoga supports this journey: movement in the morning, grounding and integration in the evening, helping embody what each day brings to the surface.
The experience as a whole creates a coherent framework to reconnect with nature, understand the deeper meaning of the practices encountered, and rediscover a quality of presence — to oneself and to others.
Tepoztlán is a village of striking landscapes, recognized since pre-Hispanic times as an important ceremonial site. The Temple of Tepozteco, perched atop the mountain, was dedicated to Tepoztecatl, a deity associated with communal rites. Its mountains and ancient sites create a setting where the relationship to nature and the elements holds a central place.
Choosing Tepoztlán for a retreat means stepping into this continuity: walking its trails, discovering its historic sites, and engaging in practices that take on deeper meaning within a territory shaped by ancestral traditions.

Amatecamp is nestled in the heart of Tepoztlán’s natural landscape, in a setting designed for rest and collective practice.
The space includes an open-air yoga shala overlooking the mountains, an outdoor deck, and a garden where certain practices and rituals take place.
Accommodation is offered in eco-cabins or tipis, allowing for direct immersion in the natural surroundings. A pool and jacuzzi complete the relaxation areas.
The cuisine is plant-based, prepared with local and organic ingredients, inspired by Mexican, Italian, and Ayurvedic traditions.
Join us to this transformative journey alongside a passionate and experienced team deeply connected to the ancestral traditions of Mexico. Kitzia, Mexican teacher and founder of Mayashala Paris, is joined by Nash and Full, Sun Dancers and guardians of Tepoztlán’s traditions. The three of them have dedicated their lives to learning, transmitting, and preserving sacred practices. Together, they will guide you throughout this unique journey.

At the heart of this retreat, each day is an invitation to explore, to purify, and to reconnect — with yourself and with nature.
Surrounded by sacred mountains, ancestral rituals, and daily yoga practices, you’ll be guided by the living traditions of Mexico and the powerful energy of places rich in history. Below are the key experiences that shape this transformative journey.
In the pre-Hispanic cosmovision, rituals are rooted in the four cardinal directions and the center, each associated with natural forces and symbolic principles. Mountains, rivers, ancient trees, and the elements — water, fire, earth, and wind — are regarded as the elders of the world. Through guided nature treks and sacred rituals, we enter into a deeper relationship with the living world.
What you will experience:
A Huichol fire ceremony to release mental burdens
Creation of a Tlamanali: a sacred space to honor nature, set intentions, and celebrate our ancestors
Participation in a temazcal — a sacred space of purification, rebirth, and connection to the elements, honoring the Earth and the ancestors
Exploration of sacred cacao within the Mexican tradition: its history, ceremonial preparation, and a ritual around the Tlamanali to open and renew the heart
Each day begins and ends with yoga, pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and yin yoga — creating space to integrate the experiences of the day and gently regulate the nervous system.
The final two days invite you to explore Mexico City, where ancestral heritage meets modern life. After discovering the historic center as well as the famous « Lucha Libre », the journey concludes on the last day in the serenity of the Chinampas — ancient floating gardens. At sunrise, we gather for a symbolic farewell, celebrating renewal over a traditional breakfast in harmony with nature and Mexico’s ancestral traditions.

Mexican by origin and a traveler at heart, Kitzia grew up between two cultures, dividing her life between France and Mexico. After seven years in Mexico City working as a Marketing Director for international brands, it was there that she discovered Ashtanga yoga — a practice that helped calm her mind amidst the fast pace of urban life and reconnect her to herself.
Upon returning to France in 2006, she founded Mayashala in 2019, now a leading yoga and training studio in Paris — a space dedicated to well-being, learning, and intentional disconnection.
Today, Kitzia opens the doors to her homeland through a unique retreat in ancestral Mexico. By weaving together yoga practices, pre-Hispanic rituals, sacred sites, and the beauty of Tepoztlán’s mountains, she invites you into an inner journey — one rooted in harmony with nature and the Mexican traditions that have deeply inspired her.
Mayashala is more than a studio: it is a bridge between cultures, an invitation to explore authenticity, transformation, and a return to what truly matters.

Nash (Natalia Suárez McAuliffe)
Sociologist, doula, midwife, and activist for the rights of women and children.
For over 18 years, Natalia has walked alongside Indigenous tribes and communities across Mexico and throughout North and South America. She has served as a spokesperson for the Zapatista women’s movement, advocated for the protection of Wirikuta with the Wixaritari people, and contributed to community-based initiatives in the Sierra of Guerrero and Oaxaca, leading workshops to empower women in connection with the protection of land, water, and air.
Through her work with these communities, she has learned traditional medicine, sacred songs, and ancestral rituals. She is the founder of the collectives Me Too Camino Rojo and Marea Roja, created to address and challenge gender-based violence within Indigenous traditions. At just 16, she founded Armando Vidas, an initiative supporting children and youth facing addiction and vulnerability.
