Ashtanga Yoga – the integration path by Tarik van Prehn

Traditional Ashtanga Yoga Mysore style, led classes, pranayama and yoga practical philosophy – From 11th of April till the 14th, 2024

There is no time to waste and this yoga is not gymnastics. If you have never experienced transcendence you are not looking in the right direction. During these 4 days I will make sure that you become more aware of where you are in your path. We all want fantasy but reality is what we need to grow and evolve, so we can become better humans. I invite you to take a ride together with me exploring your potential to become the best version of yourself. But we will have to face and accept all those hidden aspects that we fear so much. The lotus flower needs the dark and dirty water to bloom and reveal its beauty.

I invite you to shed light and to integrate your hidden darkness in your practice, using that to transform and manifest beauty in your life. Ultimately what any human being wants is to live as strong and as healthy as possible, for as long as we can. No yoga system is perfect and the sooner we understand that, the healthier we will become. Time is precious. Let’s not waste it.

FOR WHOM?

Open to all Ashtanga levels except absolute beginners!

Working from gross to subtle – The logic behind the 3 series of Ashtanga Yoga is to gradually clean and purify the body and nervous system so the mind can rest and the practitioner can experience a sense of presence. What requires effort and continuous consistency will eventually become effortless. The goal of practice is to get to a “flow state” regardless of how advanced one is.

When there is struggle and an urge to progress there will be restlessness. Flow state is achieved only when vinyasa, bandhas and drishtis are integrated.

How can you progress safely throughout the series, strengthening your body and sharpening your mind. Understand the logic behind each series and why the asanas were assembled the way they were.

Between the teacher and student there is the “Teaching” the energy that flows and is transmitted in a long lineage of yogis. One needs the other. Why this relationship is so important?

Yoga and the circles of life, how to adapt and change your approach to yoga based on your age, lifestyle and gender. Is Ashtanga yoga for anyone? Who should not do it, why and when?

Spirituality – what is actually means? Spiritual bypass – how can yoga practice confuse your mind and mislead your life.

The importance of understanding your traumas and fears in order to progress in your practice.

A good teacher wants his students to be better than him. Passage of knowledge means that the students start where the teachers experience peaks. A good teacher will make sure that the student will not make the same mistakes. So honestly is very important and no knowledge should be hidden. Tarik brings reality to teaching and real life experiences inviting his students to do the same. He has been through several fazes of practice and teaching, facing several challenges on so many different levels. He has also witnessed his pears and students progress and mistakes. His approach to teaching is extremely honest and realistic with no folklore or spiritual bypass.

  • 4pm – 4.30pm pranayama & closing meditation
